Student Trainee (Mathematics and Statistics-Pathways Internship)
- As a Mathematics and Statistics Student Trainee, you will perform a wide variety of mathematical/statistical computations to reduce experimental or other types of data to a form suitable for analysis by senior mathematicians/statisticians. You will assist in extracting data and measurements from a variety of prescribed sources; recognize and resolve errors that are readily apparent but require a limited knowledge of the subject matter; process data according to well-defined methods and established formulas using mathematics, elementary algebra, geometry, and standard formulas; prepare notes for descriptions and revisions to assist higher-graded mathematicians/statisticians.
GS 03
- Participate in a variety of assignments involving analytical methods.
- Read and interpret values from tables as indicated in instruction.
GS 04
- Documents reports and charts for aspects of study proposals, methods, premises, and conclusions, and engages in behind the scenes roles in briefings to officials on progress and conclusions of studies.
- Compile, organize and document data while also identifying likely variables.
GS 05
- Employ statistical techniques to generate probability functions.
- Apply standard procedures in both mathematics and statistics to be used in data analysis and normalization.
- Select and prepare well-defined data in a given format and perform routine computations
GS 07
- Analyze likely significant variables and underlying relationships
- Complete specific segments of analyses projects, selecting, using and applying standard techniques and theories of the profession
- Arrange draft reports and charts to document specific facets ·of study proposals, methods, premises, and conclusions.
- Collaborate in the planning, designing and conducting tests to obtain and validate data.
