Northrop Grumman is seeking a Communications / Public Relations student for an internship opportunity. This position will be located at our Space Systems Sector in Redondo Beach, California.

The qualified candidate will work across Northrop Grumman’s Strategic Space Systems on a broad range of communications activities. They will directly report within the Communications Group to develop strategies and support internal employee communications, SharePoint management, business/ external communications, graphic design/visual storytelling and reproduction services. Day-to-day activities include developing campaigns, working with customers on activities and messaging, and developing materials press for use by various target audiences. This internship provides significant exposure to leaders, opportunities to learn the business and develop skills that are valuable within and outside of the field of communications.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Write, edit and prepare internal and external company editorial publications and communications
  • Assist in executing communications plans and strategies for programs, activities, and events
  • Draft and edit press releases and social media content that highlight Northop Grumman space capabilities, programs and people across all channels
  • Support and track all public relations and media activities, press events, productions and develop media reports
  • Develop video scripts, web copy, biographies and conduct interviews to capture proof points and technical data in support of communications deliverables and special projects

A Candidate, Regardless Of Age And Hiring Source, Must Meet ALL Of The Below Criteria. The Candidate Must
 
  • Be a student who is enrolled full-time and pursing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university
  • Be majoring in Communications, Mass Communications, Public Relations, New Media, Marketing, English or Journalism that focuses on the following skills – writing, editing, and developing press releases and communication plans
  • Have completed at least sophomore year
  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.0 or higher (unofficial academic transcripts must be provided at time of application by uploading the documents to your application or profile)
  • Be available to work 40 hours per week for at least 10 weeks
  • Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.70/4.0 or higher
  • Excellent writing skills and well-versed in AP style rules
  • Knowledgeable of social media across platforms and omni-channel content strategies
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • A strong interest in storytelling, particularly at the intersection of science, technology and people
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and across different stakeholder groups to drive consensus
  • Ability to adapt to cultural differences and work in a global environment

Intern Pay Range:
Bachelor’s: $16.50 to $32.50 per hour
Master’s: $26.00 to $41.75 per hour
At Northrop Grumman, our internship pay rates are standardized and take into account three main factors: the anticipated graduation date of the individual, the cost of labor of the geographic location, and whether the internship is considered technical or administrative.
