Operations and Finance Intern

The Global Liver Institute (GLI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based out of Washington, D.C. Our mission is to improve the lives of individuals and families impacted by liver disease through promoting innovation, encouraging collaboration, and scaling optimal approaches to help eradicate liver diseases. We believe that collaborating with the medical and advocacy communities, and partners worldwide, we will achieve our vision for liver health to take its proper place on the global public health agenda consistent with its prevalence and impact.

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Operations and Finance Intern will support GLI administrative matters across our different programs. As GLI prepares for its last quarter of 2020, the Operations and Finance Intern will also be responsible for assisting with the closing of the fiscal year in addition to the planning for 2021 budget.

Responsibilities:
  • Support various projects such as Board meeting preparation and follow up actions, research for Audit as well as various organizational registrations
  • Work with team members with requests for grant writing and supporting documentation
  • Respond to inquiries from the general public 
  • Working with Operations Manager, assist in the drafting of GLI Employee Handbook
  • Other various administrative functions as assigned by the Office of the President

Candidate Specification:
  • Ability to exercise exceptional judgement and confidentiality with projects given
  • Current student pursuing undergraduate degree in health or business related field
  • Strong interest in project management and execution
  • Fluency in Microsoft and Google Applications 
  • Passion for nonprofits and health advocacy
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with individuals from cultural and diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent team player with the ability to work independently and in collaboration with colleagues at all levels across the team and with external stakeholders
  • Superior organization and leadership abilities
