Strategic Initiatives/Research Intern

The Alliance is headquartered in Washington, D.C. but please note this is a remote position for the foreseeable future while the COVID-19 pandemic prohibits staff from working in-person at our offices. Therefore, an Internet connection will be required for much of the work. A computer will be provided.

Primary Duties
  • Conduct research on a wide variety of energy efficiency topics and/or associated stakeholders, including those related to efficiency in transportation, energy burden focus areas, grid modernization, and international priorities;
  • Provide research and/or data collection support on energy efficiency policy, trends, and case studies;
  • Assist with coordination among the many stakeholders involved in the Alliance’s Strategic Initiatives, including managing websites, maintaining contact information databases, and coordinating email communications;
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for relevant meetings including taking notes, preparing PowerPoint presentations, drafting memos and letters, and making travel and meeting arrangements;
  • Develop content for the Alliance’s blog; and
  • Take notes in Congressional hearings and other relevant meetings outside the Alliance.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree—preferred;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working as part of a team;
  • Excellent writing and editing skills;
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and take ownership over projects and assignments;
  • Intellectually curious with an interest in energy efficiency policy;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to establish and follow routine processes and procedures;
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and communication skills;
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to create documents and presentations; and
  • Ability to collaborate with different levels of the organization, both internally and externally.
