CSB Aide/Driver

Under the supervision of the Community Engagement Manager, this position develops and coordinates emergency preparedness initiatives in the community through liaison activities, preparedness presentations, webinars, articles, and social media. Coordinates with community organizations to facilitate emergency preparedness programs and activities. Recruits and manages internal OEM Volunteer Corps. Provides coordination to the Citizen Corps Council members and other partnering organizations in order to leverage resources and encourage collaboration among their members. Works internally with staff to ensure inventory and adequate preparedness supplies are available. Collaborates with the Access and Functional Needs Integration Liaison in preparedness activities involving the Access and Functional Needs community.

Serves as the liaison to the Regional Emergency Support Function 16 committee, provides program management under the Volunteer Initiatives grant and volunteer coordination to the Citizen Corps Council programs. The position will assist in the volunteer function supporting a significant or planned event within the county.
Illustrative Duties

  • Perform ICS position specific or ESF function roles in day to day operations or during EOC activations;
  • Assists in facilitating and convening meetings with county agencies, recommends appropriate courses of emergency action, establishes emergency planning guidelines, and ensures compliance with federal, state and county emergency management guidance;
  • May prepare and present speeches to civic and community organizations to promote emergency preparedness;
  • Collect and disseminate emergency information through coordination activities with senior
  • emergency management staff;
  • May serve as an alternate or backup for OEM on assigned local, regional and state committees;
  • Monitor a variety of technology and communications equipment housed in the agency
  • Prepares routine finding reports;
  • Provides assistance to other staff as needed.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of emergency disaster plans of local, federal and state governments;
  • Basic knowledge of the capabilities of information technology, software and hardware;
  • Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Ability to effectively present materials and findings in oral and written formats;
  • Ability to develop, implement and evaluate program goals and objectives;
  • Ability to effectively coordinate a variety of emergency management related activities;
  • Ability to prepare user manuals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in business administration, public safety, emergency management or related fields.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Public Speaking Experience
  • Familiarity with Volunteer Organizations
  • Facilitator Experience

  • Valid driver's license.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, child protective services registry check, and driver's license check to the satisfaction of the employer. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Individual able to lift up to 25 pounds, speak articulately in person and on the telephone, work long periods at a desk, walk over rough terrain on occasion, and fully participate as required as a civilian member of a public safety agency. All duties may be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
