Community Volunteer Ambassador
Paid Internship Opportunity for youth of color (culture).
Rock Creek Park is truly a gem in our nation's capital. This 1,754 acre city park was officially authorized in 1890, making it the third national park to be designated by the federal government. It offers visitors the opportunity to escape the bustle of the city and find a peaceful refuge, recreation, fresh air, majestic trees, wild animals, and thousands of years of human history.
Develop and execute recruitment strategies to connect the park and VIP program to non-traditional park volunteers. Recruitment focus is on park neighbors and potential users that have not ventured into the park because they have not been invited, felt welcome or safe, and may simply not be aware of the opportunities. Support implementation of Rock Creek Park’s community engagement plan designed to reach non-traditional park visitors. Support and grow the SOLVE (Sustaining Our Land with Volunteer Energy) program, an adopt-a-park type program particularly through connections to schools. Support a new Volunteer Rover program. Collaborate with park partners on recruiting and managing of volunteers for on-going projects, new projects and special events.
We also have 2 positions open at National Mall and Memorial Parks and 2 positions Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park for a total of 6 positions open in the National Capital Region.
