Economist Intern

Overview

We are looking for an individual who has an educational background in economics or related field and can complement that with technical skills in Excel, Python, R, Stata or similar programs. A strong candidate will have macroeconomic knowledge, be self-motivated to learn, and be comfortable managing multiple tasks. Though remote work is an option, it is preferable to be in the Washington DC area. The position will be paid, and we are flexible on the time commitment based on your availability. 

Responsibilities

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Economic research including literature review, data collection, and modeling.
  • Data analysis using a variety of programs including Excel, Stata, EViews, SAS Viya, R, Python
  • Project management tasks including organizing members, coordinating meetings, tracking progress of deliverables.

Qualifications

Education:     B.A/B.S required. M.A preferred.

Experience:   One year experience as an economist, data analyst, or development work preferred.

Knowledge:   Knowledge of USAID procedures and regulations; Possess a demonstrable knowledge in the areas of International Development, Education, or Economics; Understanding of macroeconomic theory and practice.

Skills:       Strong organization, personal communication and Excel skills, Proficiency with Office tools - must be a power user and show deep proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point; Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Excel expertise strongly valued. Programming or coding in R, Python, Stata, EViews, Tableau, SAS Viya is preferred.

Languages:   Fluency in English; Spanish or Second language preferable.
