Salary Range: $5,958 - $8,794

 

The role:  

 

We are recruiting for a labor relations consultant to join our team in Salem! In this role, you will interpret and apply laws, rules, statutes, policies and collective bargaining agreements for our Human Resources (HR) Branch, regional and section managers and our executive team. You will also provide labor relations and collective bargaining support for statewide negotiations including representing our agency and implementing negotiated changes. Apply today!

Minimum qualifications:

Six years human resource experience related to the position. Four of the six years must have been at the professional-level.

OR

Valid certification as a Professional in Human Resource awarded by the Human Resource Certification Institute and four years human resource professional-level experience related to the position.

OR

A bachelor's degree in human resource management, organizational behavior or development, business or public administration, the applied behavioral sciences, industrial relations or a job-related course of study determined by the appointing authority; and three years of human resource professional-level experience related to the position.

Note:

  • A master's degree in any of the above listed courses of study may substitute for one year of professional-level experience.
  • The State Certified Human Resources Professional (SCHRP) certification, awarded by the Oregon Chief Human Resources Office, substitutes for six months of human resource professional-level experience.
  • Valid Certification as a SHRM Certified Professional awarded by a nationally recognized organization, substitutes for one year of human resource professional-level experience.

 

Special qualifications:

Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

  • Experience conducting, managing or facilitating labor relations activities. 
  • Working knowledge of and experience applying state, local, and federal employment laws, rules, and regulations. 
  • Proven partnerships with labor union(s) and working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements. 
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with managers, peers, staff, and labor representatives through a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to transform objectives and goals into results through improvement strategies and information organization.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills, including experience responding to and understanding workforce needs and navigating sensitive issues.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
