Hiring Range: $42,800 - $57,779

Who We Are

Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) is the provider of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services for children and adults in Chesterfield County.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; one year of experience in food service; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Working knowledge of food preparation techniques; proper cleaning and sanitizing techniques used in kitchen operations. Ability to operate kitchen equipment; communicate effectively orally and in writing; develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external staff. Knowledge of modified diets and food consistencies preferred. 

Additional Requirements

Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the preceding twenty-four months, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.

Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.

Duties include but are not limited to the following: 

• Prepares, cooks, and serves meals and snacks from dietician approved meals;

• Cleans kitchen, appliances, equipment, utensils and dining areas, laundry services, etc.;

• Assists in providing a safe and clean living environment; assists in monitoring, enforcing, and implementing facility rules, policies and procedures;

• Maintains compliance with health and safety regulations, standards and policies; and

• Performs other work as required.
